Privacy policy
Borderline is an independently operated personal game project. It is designed to collect as little information as practical while still helping improve the puzzles.
What Borderline collects
Borderline records limited, anonymous gameplay events: puzzle starts and completions, hints used, board size, completion time when timed, puzzle date, and a broad device category such as mobile, tablet, or desktop.
A random browser identifier helps distinguish repeat play without asking for an account. That identifier is stored in your browser and rotates after 90 days. It is not based on your name, email address, device fingerprint, or IP address.
What Borderline does not collect
Borderline does not intentionally collect names, email addresses, account profiles, precise locations, IP addresses, advertising identifiers, or browser fingerprints. It does not use third-party advertising trackers.
Browser storage
Borderline uses local browser storage—not an advertising cookie—to remember game preferences and progress, including your theme, tutorial status, clean-solve streak, completed puzzle state, and anonymous rotating identifier. Clearing site data in your browser removes this information from your device.
Why the data is used
Anonymous gameplay data is used to understand whether puzzles work well, measure starts and completions, improve touch and device support, and identify boards that may be frustrating.
Retention
Detailed gameplay-event data is kept in a rolling 90-day reporting window.
Sharing and service providers
Borderline does not sell personal information or anonymous gameplay data. Hosting and database providers process the limited data needed to operate the site, subject to their own security and privacy obligations. Information may also be disclosed if legally required.
Children
Borderline is a general-audience math and logic game and does not knowingly request or collect personal information from children. No account or personal profile is required to play.
Your choices
You can clear Borderline’s stored preferences and anonymous identifier at any time through your browser’s site-data controls. You can also use browser privacy controls to limit local storage, although some progress and preference features may then stop working.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as Borderline changes. The date at the top will be revised whenever a material update is made.
